Message of the President - CHBA

Since my appointment as President, I have strived to upgrade and empower the function of CHB and I can assure you that no stone has been left unturned to attain this noble objective. .

We have set up norms and quality service so that we can operate in a healthy and business friendly environment.

The result of all our effort has delivered:

• Our Code of Ethics
• Our Standard Trading Conditions
• Our Agency Agreement and Power of Attorney

Needless to say that these measures will fill in the vacuum and create the right environment for us to operate.

My pious wish is that all my colleagues and friends, as professionals, can earn an honest and decent living with pride without being tempted to get involved in malpractices.

To this effect, we have set up a minimum price policy for our professional services.

I strongly advise all my colleagues to adhere to these principles and guidelines religiously.

Customs House Brokers are an important link in the business activities of the economy and contribute substantially to the promotion and development of trade. It is against this background that the need for proper and adequate training arises. Its part of the empowerment of the profession which is much needed. The Executive committee has taken stock of the situation and I can assure you that the training process will continue in full gears.

As Customs House Brokers we are licensed by the Government to offer professional services in the area of clearing to the business community.

As Mauritian we are committed to work in all transparency closely with the government and its agencies to collect revenues and combat frauds and smuggling in the country. We are committed to this principle and we owe this loyalty to our country.
